Driven on, driven off

Motorhomes ship roll-on roll-off: driven onto the ship at the Australian terminal, secured on the vehicle deck, and driven off in New Zealand. No container and no crating. We book the sailing, lodge the export paperwork, and handle NZ customs entry and the MPI inspection when it lands.

How it’s priced

Like a caravan: length × width × height in metres, with a 50 m³ minimum per unit (AUD 80.00 per m³ to Auckland on our published rate, plus AUD 472.50 and NZD 630 local charges). Measure height to the top of the air-conditioner, satellite dish or roof hatch. See the worked examples.

Getting it ready for MPI

  • Wash the underside, wheel arches and engine bay.
  • Drain the fresh, grey and black water tanks and the toilet cassette.
  • Empty the fridge, pantry and every cupboard, then vacuum throughout, including the cab.
  • Clean the awning, roof, solar panels and external lockers.
  • Remove outdoor gear with soil on it: chairs, mats, hoses, bikes.

The room-by-room checklist covers the lot. Cleaning or re-inspection after a failed first inspection is at your cost.

After it lands

Pay any NZ GST and duty, then the motorhome needs entry certification before it can be registered, and a Warrant or Certificate of Fitness depending on its weight. Check whether you qualify for an NZ Customs concession if you’re moving to New Zealand.

What’s included

Export clearance, Australian terminal handling and port charges, sea freight, NZ arrival port charges, the cargo reporting fee, NZ customs entry, the vehicle border check and MPI biosecurity fees. Cartage to the Australian terminal is quoted separately, or you can drive it in yourself during the receival window.

Motorhome shipping questions

How much does it cost to ship a motorhome to New Zealand?

Motorhomes are priced on volume: AUD 80.00 per m³ to Auckland on our published rate, 50 m³ minimum, plus local charges per unit. Use the price box with your motorhome’s dimensions for an exact figure.

Can I drive my motorhome to the port?

Yes. You can deliver it to the terminal yourself during the receival window, or we can quote cartage.

How long does it take?

Typically about 7 days port to port to Auckland (4 to 13 days on the current schedule, depending on your load port), plus a few days at each end for receival, customs and MPI.

Can I leave belongings inside?

Plan to ship it empty. Anything inside is inspected on arrival and carrier rules limit what can travel. Ask Nick before you pack anything.
